A lovely maternity at Garfield Park

One of my strongest photoshoots to date.

This day was planned out weeks in advance, but changes in weather modified our plan to what it became. An indoor shoot at Garfield Park Conservatory as well as an outdoor “still-life” shot in the nearby park. With multiple phone conversations to start, we slowly formed what the culture of this photoshoot would be: mindful and genuine.

With all of the hulabaloo at the conservatory, I wanted to begin with a simple meditation outside on the exterior grounds. Guided breathing, reconnecting with the body, and envisioning personas we wanted to showcase. I had never done this before at a shoot and it proved INCREDIBLY useful. It calmed our spirit, focused our intentions, and simply made the day more enjoyable! At times I noticed anxiety or an uncomfortable look, we stopped, came back to center, and resumed. Purely magic.

Never have I felt so at-peace, confident and present, during a photoshoot. With the culmination of thoughtful preparation and body awareness, I think this came out to be one of my strongest portrait sessions to date. Enjoy -
